The Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) (England) Order 2015

The Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) (England) Order 2015

The above piece of legislation took effect on 15 April 2015. The Order brought in some new permitted development changes including:

a) Change of use from a shop to a restaurant or café;
b) Change of use from use as a shop to financial or professional services such as accountants;
c) Change of use from casinos or amusement arcades to houses.

The Order also included relaxation in respect of addition of some solar panel schemes for houses and for some smaller storage facilities being converted to residential.

The Order sought to also consolidate some of the recent changes in this area of the law.

The changes in permitted development do not remove the need to obtain Building Regulations approval or Planning Permission in respect of any works that are not covered by permitted development.
