Residential Landlords fully exposed?

With Scotland having already implemented a landlord licensing system and Wales working towards this, steps recently taken by the London Borough of Newham suggest further regulation may be just around the corner.
From 1 January this year the Council has made it compulsory for owners of the estimated 35,000 rented residential properties to declare their identity and criminal convictions and for the properties to pass health and safety checks. A failure to do so will result in a fine of up to £20,000.

Although this has been sold as a way to crack down on “rogue” landlords, some will feel it is an unnecessary intrusion of privacy.
