January is known as Divorce Month. As the New Year hangover subsides and the Christmas credit bills start rolling in, relationships that already looked a little unsteady, can, unfortunately head for the rocks.
Divorce and separation are difficult and stressful. At AWB Charlesworth, we’re supporting Family Mediation Week, which runs this year, from 16-20 January.
Family mediation is a process in which an independent, professionally-trained mediator helps you work out arrangements for children and finances following separation.
Mediation can also be helpful when previous arrangements need to change, particularly as your children grow up.
An FMC Registered Mediator will help you find a solution which works for you both and will explain what needs to happen to make an agreement between you legally binding.
The process is less stressful and significantly quicker than going to court and can save you money.
Family Mediation Week offers lots of free resources and seminars and we’ve hand-picked just two that might appeal to you:
Monday 16 January, 5pm: Family Mediation: a tailormade process for separating families.
Tuesday, 17 January, 5pm: Communication after the split – getting solutions with non-court resolutions.
