Liam deals with a broad range of Wills, Probate, Trusts and Tax work. He advises business owners on succession issues and a large part of Liam’s work involves the resolution of disputes in relations to Wills, Trusts and Probate matters. Liam is one of the few solicitors in Yorkshire who is a member of the Association of Contentious Trust and Probate Specialists ( ACTAPS).
Liam qualified as a solicitor in 2008 having previously practiced as a Legal Executive. He has dealt exclusively with private client work since 2004 having for a number of years prior to that worked in the property department at two commercial law firms.
Qualifications and memberships
Liam is a member of the Society of Trust & Estate Practitioners (STEP) and through that a member of both the STEP Mental Capacity and STEP Contentious Trusts and Estate Special Interest Groups.
As mentioned above, Liam is also a member of the Association of Contentious Trust and Probate Specialists (ACTAPS).
Why a career in law? “Liam enjoys the intellectual challenge of dealing with complex legal cases, and helping individuals solve problems. Getting to the end of a complicated case and getting a good outcome for the client is very rewarding”.
What interests Liam about his specific area of law?: “There is a great variety of work within the private client sphere and you are able to help individuals and families facing various issues. It’s the variety that makes this area of work enjoyable.”
If he were not a lawyer?: Liam would otherwise want to be an architect or, alternatively, a professional musician. When he has spare time he attempts to be a semi-competent trombonist and guitarist.
Liam’s three favourite pastimes: Mountain biking, spending time with his family and music.
His best personal qualities: Honesty, an ability to listen and empathy.
An unusual fact: Liam was once in a heavy metal band.
